The live-action adaptation of Fumi Yoshinaga’s manga “Ooku,” starring Kazunari Ninomiya and Kou Shibasaki, opened this past weekend. The box office tally from its first three days (Friday-Sunday) was approximately 470 million yen, with about 400,000 tickets sold.
This is said to be a good start for the film, which is now predicted to reach 3 billion yen by the end of its theatrical run. Opening day was on the first of the month, when theaters offer cheaper tickets, so attendance numbers reached roughly 170,000 moviegoers, mostly women across a wide age range.
