SDN48 are a sister unit of popular idol group AKB48, in which all members are older than 20 years, as their name derives from the term “SaturDay Night”. It has now been announced that they will be making their major debut on November 24th in Japan and Korea at the same time.
Packed with their major single “GAGAGA”, the 12 participating members have visited Korea on November 17th for a large scale promotion event. On November 18th they have then participated in the popular music program “M COUNTDOWN”.
The group had been formed last year in August, being directed at a more mature audience, with a sexier appeal to their overall 36 members.
“GAGAGA” is a song with respect to the in Japan popular K-POP dance sound and also includes Korean lyrics. As the chorus is made of the syllables “GAGAGA”, there is also a pose where the girls move their elbows accordingly, which was labeled the “GAGAGA pose”.
AKB48 leader Noro Kayo said on the debut: “I am greatly moved about the Japanese Korean debut! I want to study more Korean from here on.”
