The well-know manga “Yamikin Ushijima-kun”, which describes the reality of social disparity and has sold out more than 250 million copies, will be adapted into a TV drama, casting Yamada Takayuki.
Having been absent from TV drama for 4 years, Yamada is going to play the role of Ushijima Kaoru, a hard-boiled loan shark, with short hair and beard, wearing glasses, acting a dark hero challenging the dark side of modern socity. The drama will start to air at late night on MBS and TBS channels from October.
“Yamikin Ushijima-kun” is a manga of Manabe Shohei serialized since 2004. The main character Ushijima Kaoru is the president of a illegal loan shark company, leading his team with a clear head, prominent insight and executive ability. He is also a dark hero who tries to encourage new energy of bad debtors.
On the other hand, Yamada Takayuki has cut his hair more than 30 cm. According to him, “No matter to cut the hair or to grow the hair, it is all for the character. To show the special presense of Ushijima, it is necessary to have a close look.” And the glasses is his own idea. After reading the script, “I’m wondering whether it is OK to have these contents in a TV drama, but at least it is late-night TV drama.” Said Yamada, “Human-beings are bad but interesting. I hope people can feel the fear and silliness of human and don’t touch loan shark. ”
