The first CODE GEASS: Akito the Exiled (Boukoku no Akito) OVA is announced for release. The first of four chapters, “Yokuryu wa Maiorita” (The Wyvern has Landed) has been playing in theaters across Japan since August 4th. The OVA of chapter 1 comes on three editions including region free Blu-ray with English subtitles and hits stores January 29th 2013 – read on for more details and video preview.
Maaya Sakamoto who voices one of the lead characters Layla Malkal also provides the theme song, “More Than Words”. Her single released July 25th – more details here.
CODE GEASS: Akito the Exiled produced by CLAMP and Sunrise/Bandai is a spin-off from the CODE GEASS story which takes place around the same time as the main story when Lelouch takes on Holy Britannia Empire in Japan. The setting is Europe where they are being invaded by the overwhelming forces of the Empire. Layla Malkal who is a former Britannia aristocrat comes to their aid, with a corps of Wyvern Knightmares piloted by Japanese teenagers.
Code Geass: Akito the Exiled is planned for four 50-min theatrical releases starting August 4th and the others following about 3-6 months apart.
The first chapter “Yokuryu wa Maiorita” is still playing at theaters in Japan – theater information is available at the Official website (link at bottom). The second chapter “Hikisaka Reshi Yokuryu” is tentatively announced for Winter 2013.
CODE GEASS: Akito the Exiled OVA 1 (approx. 54min) comes on three editions,
– Limited Blu-ray region free with English subtitles that includes bonus drama CD, production notes 24-pgs, case sleave, ending illustration card(s), Blu-ray extras (making-of, CM trailers, commentary), First Press version adds post card.
