Minori Chihara has announced her 18th major single that will be featured as the opening theme for upcoming anime TV series Kyokai no Kanata. Minori Chihara is also voicing key character Mitsuki Nase in the dark fantasy produced by Kyoto Animation. Minori Chihara made a major change this past Spring abruptly ending her contract with Avex planning & development (APD) group on March 31st 2013. The management group handled her voice acting work and more since her debut 10 years ago. Her existing APD managed website, minorhythm blog, and MSS fan club which were immediately shutdown. Fortunately April 1st 2013 a new blog launched, Smile Days with initial posts Minori Chihara apologized to all her fans for the sudden change but that it was time to move to a new environment. A new official website and fan club M-Smile have also launched under Minori Chihara’s own management M-Peace Inc. Her record label Lantis remains unchanged. She release her first single of 2013 “Kono sekai wa bokura wo matte ita” on April 24th 2013 with tie-in as the opening theme song for Spring 2013 anime Gargantia on the Verdurous Planet (Suisei no Gargantia).
Fall 2013 anime Kyokai no Kanata is adapted from light novel series by Nagomu Torii. The dark fantasy follows the story of Mirai Kuriyama who is rejected by other underworlders (yomu) because of her ability to manipulate blood. Along with several other yomu Mirai is a first year High School student.
Anime Kyokai no Kanata is produced by Kyoto Animation and begins airing in Japan on Tokyo MX October 2013.
Minori Chihara’s new single title track is a collaboration with Aki Hata providing the lyrics and Daisuke Kikuta of Elements Garden composing. The single comes on three editions,
– Limited with DVD that includes music video for title track. CD planned for 3 tracks.
– Limited Anime themed with illustrated jacket cover and CD planned for 2 tracks.
– Regular with CD track list similar to Limited.
